Accelerating Admixtures
- Increase the initial rate of hardening and strength development of the concrete & reduce the overall setting time
- Ideal for winter and cold weather casting/conditions
- Improved protection against early exposure to freezing and thawing
- Reduced bleeding
- Earlier removal of formwork
- Reduction of protection time to achieve a given quality
- Chloride free to prevent internal corrosion of internal reinforcing bars.
Air Entrainers
- Microscopic air bubbles intentionally incorporated into the concrete at mixing become part of the matrix that binds the aggregate together in the hardened concrete
- Increased resistance to freezing and thawing – stops the concrete from cracking at freezing temperatures
- Improvement in workability
- For applications where the concrete surface is anticipated being wet for prolonged periods all year round – especially over winter months
- Downside is a reduction in concrete strength
