An alkali resistant cold applied rubberised bitumen emulsion which has excellent adhesion to sound building materials including asphalt. It retains flexibility in low temperatures and is resistant to softening in warm conditions. ADOCOAT is used on walls and floors to prevent water ingress and dampness from the ground. It can be used to provide a flexible waterproof membrane on most building surfaces, and may be extended to produce flexible crack filler. It is brown in colour, on application and dries to black

Preparation and Application Requirements
ADOCOAT should always be applied to surfaces which are clean and free from dust, oil and other surface contaminants. It should not be applied in temperatures below 5°C. Porous and hot dry surfaces should be dampened with clean cold water to assist the application of the product.

Stir well before use. Apply by brush. Do not apply to external surfaces in wet weather or if rain is threatened. Allow good ventilation in confined areas. In multi coat applications, each coat should be allowed to dry completely before the next coat is applied. Project treated surfaces from frost until fully dried.
Waterproof Coating to Bridge Abutments, Structures and Foundations
Apply two coats, each at 2m2 per litre (the 2nd at right angles to the first). When treating foundations, the coating should be taken to meet the damp proof course provided in the base or wall. ADOCOAT can be applied to green concrete surfaces immediately after the shuttering has been removed to act as a curing membrane. It is recommended that 48 hours be allowed to elapse before back-filling.
Repairs to Cracks in Blacktop Surfacing and Concrete
Fine cracks may be filled with neat ADOCOAT. Larger cracks up to approximately 6 mm are filled with a mixture of 2 volumes of ADOCOAT to 1 volume of fine sand. Cracks in excess of 6 mm should be filled with a similar mixture plus the addition of approximately 10% of Portland cement. Neat ADOCOAT may be poured into the crack, whilst filled mixtures are best applied with a pallet knife or similar. Repairs should be blinded with sand if early trafficking is intended. Larger repairs may need topping up after 24 hour treatments.
Waterproofing Exterior Walls
Remove all dirt, dust and grease. Uneven surfaces should be levelled using cement mortar. Bare brickwork should be covered with a thin skin of cement mortar, which should be allowed to dry. Apply 3 coats of ADOCOAT, each at 2m2per litre (each at right angles to the previous). The final coat should be blinded with sharp sand while it is still tacky.
NOT recommended for use on Interior walls below ground level with extreme dampness. Recommended to treat the exterior as ADOCOAT is unlikely to resist exposure to free water or water pressure (conditions often found in basements & cellars)
Floors
Sandwich Construction—severe conditions and heavy dampness. Apply 2 coats of ADOCOAT onto clean & smooth concrete sub floor at 1m2 per litre. While the second coat is still tacky, blind with clean sand as a protection against foot traffic and to provide a good key for the top screed. It is important that ADOCOAT is taken up the walls to marry with the existing damp proof course and the dried film is not punctured or damaged. Apply the top screed at a thickness of 50mm minimum and allow to dry before laying a floor covering
Adocoat should never be left as the final surface for pedestrian traffic. It should always be covered by a suitable floor covering material
Cleaning
Tools should be cleaned immediately after use with warm clean water. If ADOCOAT has hardened RESOKLENS should be used to soften the material.

Coverage is 1.-2m2 per litre per coat of undiluted material.
Drying time is 3 to 6 hours but this may be extended in humid or poorly ventilated situations.

The material should be stored in a closed container and protected from the frost

12 months in tightly sealed containers

Care should be taken to avoid splashes entering eyes. Contact with skin should be avoided and hands washed thoroughly in the event of accidental contact. ADOCOAT Emulsion should not be ingested. If splashes affect eyes, they should be bathed immediately with copious quantities of clean water and if discomfort persist medical attention should be sought without delay.
