Adocoat HPW

Adocoat HPW (High Performance Waterproofing) Acrylic Roof Repair is a tough fibre
reinforced acrylic roof coating based on a flexible thermoplastic resin. It forms a tough,
fibre-reinforced waterproof membrane that seals and protects roofs from weathering and
water ingress. When dry, the product forms an odourless and taint-free film. It can be used
with a wide variety of substrates such as: asphalt (bitumen), roofing felt, asbestos, rigid
PVC, concrete, cement, iron, lead, zinc, aluminium, tiles and slate. The product can also be
applied in adverse weather conditions and to damp substrates making it ideal as an
emergency roof repair product. This product is compatible with most types of gutters and
flashings. If using on a roof or balcony subject to heavy traffic or the placing of objects
such as furniture, then promenade tiles or similar protection must be laid over the coating.

Application

USES
– Rejuvenating topcoat over aged roof coats, corrugated sheets, felts etc.
– Protective waterproof coating for roofs, gutters and flashings
– Emergency repair and sealing of leaking or damaged roofs.

PREPERATION

All surfaces should be smooth, clean, dry, sound, and free from frost, oil, grease, condensation
and other contamination. Remove any organic growth with a fungicidal wash as may be
necessary. Loose or blistered paint should be removed from a surface mechanically with a
scraper.

APPLICATION

The minimum ambient temperature for application is 5°C, it is not recommended to apply the
product at temperatures below this as specified curing times will not be achieved. As this is a
solvent-based product is not advisable to apply the product at temperatures in excess of 35°C;
viscosity will increase due to the solvent content flashing off at higher temperatures.
Product is recommended to be brush or roller applied, avoid pouring directly onto a
horizontal surface. This may cause puddling during application and increase drying time.
Product may be applied to ‘green’ concrete.
Should the product require thinning, it is recommended to thin 5% by volume of white spirit
initially and evaluate the resulting viscosity. The product should not need to be thinned if
recommended storage conditions have been maintained.
If applying to metal, ensure the surface is well prepared in advance. For ferrous metals wire
brush off any rust and ensure clean and dry. Where long-term protection is required treat with
a rust-inhibitive product such as a zinc phosphate-based product. For galvanised steel,
aluminium or stainless steel treat the product with an etch primer in order to provide a suitable
key for the product to adhere to.
Consult the Technical Department for advice on any compatibility questions prior to
application if unsure. It is always advised to treat small areas with primers, this product or
ancillary systems and evaluate results before coating large areas.

CLEANING

For cleaning tools use a hydrocarbon-based solvent such as White Sprit, Turpentine, Paraffin
or Kerosene .

Coverage

Coverage rates depend on porosity of surface:
Approx. 1–2 kg/m2
The product can be applied as a single coat. Priming is not generally required but for best
performance highly porous surfaces (such as concrete) will benefit from being primer treated.
This product is compatible with solvent-based bitumen primers. Where a primer is used,
ensure it is allowed to dry fully before applying this product

Storage

Store in cool, dry conditions in the original manufacturer packaging. Do not store with
oxidisers and keep away from sources of ignition. The product has a 18-month shelf life
provided the container is unopened. If opened the product should be used within 3 months
and sealed air-tight between uses. Longer storage times may result in fibres and fillers falling to
the base of the container, rigorous and thorough stirring is essential prior to application.

Shelf Life

18 months (unopened)
